Telemetry Signal Simulators

SEMCO’s Telemetry Signal Simulators are designed as the ideal instruments for telemetry pre-mission checkout as well as boresight testing.  These simulators are provided in 2U rack-mount configurations, as well as ruggedized portable hand-held battery-powered configurations. Designed for pre-mission checkout of a telemetry ground station, as well as for telemetry receiver testing, calibration and maintenance, the available RF output frequency range spans 200 MHz to 5250 MHz (rack-mount configuration) and 1435.5 MHz to 5250 MHz (portable hand-held configuration). With calibrated single and optional dual RF outputs, the standard RF power output levels include +5 dBm to -100 dBm (rack-mount configuration) and 0 dBm to -100 dBm (portable hand-held configuration).  +20 dBm and +37 dBm output power options are also available.

The simulators provide an internally generated pseudo-random PCM code generator, user-selectable multi-mode modulator, an embedded bit synchronizer, frame synchronizer and a Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT). A second bit synchronizer channel is also provided in the rack-mount configuration in support of A/U/QPSK I/Q BER testing. Modulation formats include PCM/FM, NTSC Composite Video, PM, BPSK, QPSK, AQPSK, UQPSK, AUQPSK, Tier I SOQPSK-TG, Tier II Multi-h CPM and FM/FM Sub-carrier. FEC encoders include Viterbi, Turbo, Reed Solomon and Low Density Parity Check (LDPC.

The external modulation feature allows for user-provided analog and digital signal and test patterns as well as binary file playback capability using pre-recorded mission data. Dynamic combiner performance testing capability provides for user-selectable phase shifts and CH1/CH2 signal level shifting (fade) at user-selectable fade rates. The Preset feature provides the ability to name, save and load all settings. The simulators also provide for data and test result logging and printout as a .csv file.
